This was excellent. The staff were pleasant but also unobtrusive. We met with friends that hadn't seen in a while and needed to catch up. Didn't feel rushed. Food was excellent. Peking duck buns were delicious. I'd never had soup dumplings and was amazed by the perfect temperature and flavor. The green beans were so tasty! I only wish we had ordered the bacon fried rice ..next time!

Simply amazing! Honorable mention to the gluten free options and the great care taken. The beer selection was amazing and everything from the service to the food was just perfect. Empire was the highlight of our trip and we will come back for sure!

Soup Dumplings/Bao Buns are so good! That Bacon Fried Rice was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend going.

I don't normally eat Chinese, but this is not a typical American Chinese restaurant. The menu had a lot to offer for gluten free, vegetarian, and even histamine sensitive diets, and fun cocktails for the alcohol free options. So many different choices to mix and match at really reasonable prices too! All the staff was super friendly and really knew their menu! We got there early, but it sure filled up fast and I can see why.

We are new in town and finally had lunch at Empire Chinese Kitchen. From the moment you walk in you are transported to a hip and cozy Asian restaurant that is above the rest. We were greeted by a friendly hostess that took our number and placed on a wait list for a busy Sunday early afternoon. Our table was ready shortly after within 15-20 minutes. I have been looking for Bao Buns and finally found them! The Bao Buns were so flavorful and delicious! Entree after entree every dish was amazingly superb. We ventured out trying the Bacon Fried Rice which was good but not the traditional fried rice we usually get. There is a full bar with cocktails, wine and beers. Customer service was friendly and excellent. Empire Chinese Kitchen will definitely be one of our new Go to restaurants!

We were really excited to try this spot in Portland after perusing the must-try spots for dinner. Glad we stumbled upon this restaurant while we were researching, because it did NOT disappoint. Ambiance is trendy and fun, with decorative wood details, lots of plants, and mood lighting. The servers were very attentive to our needs, made suggestions, and were super friendly. And the best part, the food: we ordered the soup dumplings, pork pan fried dumplings, orange beef, duck lo mein, honey walnut shrimp, garlic green beans and lobster Rangoon. We ordered QUITE a lot for two people but it was all eaten. The soup dumplings had great flavor, great broth, and strong dumpling skin. However, I’m under the impression they weren’t handmade (no hole on top). Not a huge deal, but it was still super good. The honey walnut shrimp was CHUNKY! They were ginormous pieces—perfect for 2. The orange beef was so crispy, perfectly sauced and tender. But the superstar of the night was THE GREEN BEANS. You can taste the breath of the wok on the beans. They’re perfectly seasoned, charred, and had perfect crunchy bits of garlic. Can’t wait to come back during the summer months!

My husband and I have been wanting to eat here for some time and we did so successfully today for lunch. It was a packed house so we sat in a great corner of the bar. We ordered sweet and sour soup, Kung pao chicken and chicken pot stickers. The soup was thick and flavorful. The rest of the meal was great. Spicy. Service was super.

It's been 5 years since I've been here... And it was just as DELICIOUS as I remembered it. Back in town for work, I decided to stop by and grab a seat at the bar. A quick way to grab dinner if you're alone or you and your plus one don't want to wait for a table. I ordered the Peking duck buns, bacon fried rice and Shanghai soup dumplings for myself. It was all devoured, minus some rice to take back with me. Service was great and prices still reasonable across the board. Highly recommend if you're visiting and want to order Chinese!
